The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, His mercies never come to an end; They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22-23, NRSV
For His anger is but for a moment; His favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may linger for the night, but joy comes with the morning.
Psalm 30:5, NRSV
Great is Your faithfulness. Man. Truly, it is only through Him we are here on January 1, 2021. 2020 brought a lot of trial and tribulation. It also brought a lot of good but boy was it intense. As I was preparing for 2021 I just kept hearing those scriptures above and the words “It’s morning” and I just wanted to share this encouragement with ya’ll at the top of 2021.
It’s Morning!
No seriously it is morning! 2020 has been intense but His mercies are new every morning and the fact that you are reading this proves it! We may have lost things in 2020 but there is so much to look towards in this new day. We may not know that 2021 is going to be any different but one thing that is known is God’s faithfulness. Choose to run this year. Choose to heal. Choose to grow. You have the choice to jump into His new mercies, new opportunities, new hope. Here’s a few things I’ve done to jump into 2021 with this truth:
- I put 2020 to bed! I talked about it in my “God can do anything you know” blog so you can see more detail there but I laid the good the bad and the ugly to rest so I don’t go into a new year (a new day- it’s good to do this type of thing daily) with the baggage of yesterday.
- I took some time to rest. 2020 took a toll on us- well let me not speak for you; it took a toll on me haha! – mentally and physically so I took some time to just sleep, relax, take a breather. If you’re able I suggest you do the same. Even if it’s just an extra hour of sleep or reading a silly fiction book or watching a tv show- do it!
- Wrote down my goals for 2021 AND believed for big things. I didn’t dampen my expectations because 2020 was crazy. I choose to believe big for the new year because it’s pregnant with possibility! 2021 just started so there is plenty time for great things!
So, guys. It’s morning. It’s a new day. It’s a new year. Anything can happen. Choose to jump in ready with joy knowing that He is faithful! For He is faithful and just to complete the good work He began in you (Philippians 1:6). He is faithful to take us from strength to strength (Psalm 84: 7). And because we trust in Him and our hearts are towards Him we went through the valley of death (e.g. 2020. Can I be real? haha!) and make it a place of springs! We will go from strength to strength (Psalm 84:6).
2021 is going to be lit! Yes, I said “lit”! Not because we know it will be different but because we know we will be different.
