With all the Olympic excitement it had me thinking about running and it reminded me of the words in 1 Corinthians 9:26-27.

Do you not know that in a race the runners all compete, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win it. Athletes exercise self-control in all things; they do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we, an imperishable one. So I do not run aimlessly, nor do I box as though beating the air; but I punish my body and enslave it, so that after proclaiming to others I myself should not be disqualified.

1 Corinthians 9:26-27 NRSV

Have you ever looked into what Olympians do to train for their races? Their food, their sleep, their exercise – EVERY SINGLE ASPECT of their life is dictated and regimented. All with the single goal of winning in mind. They train for months, even years for a competition that sometimes only lasts twenty seconds. And all for the glory of winning something that eventually would fade away.

You know we’re running our own race?

We are all running to build a life worth living and make an impact, right? We want what we do to last longer than us either through the work we leave behind or through our legacy. It could be a business, or a book you want to write, or raising kids that transform their world as adults. These are the imperishable things of life but we can get distracted with the busyness of life. I want to take a moment to get us all focused back on the things we need to do! Let me give you three things to do!

Remember Your Why

Why did you start that business? That thing! What was the reason? I want you to take a moment and think about the reasons why you even started this journey with your goals. There was an ultimate end you wanted to get to right? Get that reason in your heart and top of mind.

Refocus

What goals do you want to keep? Do you want to change it up? Or does it need to be thrown out? All questions you should ask to make sure you are ready to move forward in the year

Run

Put your head down and RUN!! That’s it. Haha!

But seriously, when it comes to the race season, runners focus, use self-control, to make sure that they are in the best place to win a crown that will not last. But you, your purpose, the things you seek are beyond a simple crown. So, let’s get our goals reset, let’s focus and then RUN!

In the second quarter I hit most of my goals but some of the ones I missed, I know I missed because I forgot the reason why I was running. And ya’ll, I commit to not forgetting this quarter. And I want you guys not to forget either so I’m opening something called the Steward Life Well Collective! I want that ultimate accountability for you and for me. So what are we running for?

Sign up and let me know in the group!
